A WAD is an archive file used in fifth generation era SCEE Cambridge Studio games. WADs were usually used to contain files such as MOFs and/or VLOs. WADs themselves also resided in an archive file, the MWD.[1]

The acronym WAD was coined during the development of Doom and stands for Where's All the Data?[2]
