The MWD is an archive file used in fifth generation era SCEE Cambridge Studio games. The MWD would usually hold the majority of a game's resources, including textures (VLOs), models (MOFs), sounds (VHs/VBs), and more.[1]

Etymology

It is believed that MWD stands for MediEvil WAD or Millennium WAD. The acronym WAD was coined during the development of Doom and stands for Where's All the Data?[2]
